What Makes an X-Ray Image Good?
We’ve been in the x-ray equipment and component industry for nearly 40 years. As such, it may come as no surprise that we often receive questions from existing and prospective customers. So, what makes an image a “good” one? There are a number of factors that come together in producing a good image. This includes spatial resolution, contrast, dynamic range, signal to noise ratio. Additionally, a good image will have no distortion, gaps, or dead pixels. It’s also important to note that no image can be better than the worst of its components. This includes the detector, image processing software, and viewing monitor being used.
